What About Mom?

I love to learn.

I don’t always have the time to do it.

One day, my oldest daughter told me she wanted to learn how to do everything in the world, and as silly as that sounds, I understood it. I have so many interests, that sometimes it’s overwhelming. So much to do, so little time.

Anyway, I wanted to share the things I’m learning/reading now. I learn a lot when working with the kids. More than I ever expected. But these are things I’m doing on my own.

How to Think and Argue
Intro to Philosophy
Intro to Digital Sound Design
Guitar
Reading: The Well-Trained Mind, The Iliad/The Odyssey

How do I fit that in when I homeschool full-time, work at home and have a toddler? It’s hard. I have to MAKE time. And unfortunately, things that a lot of parents can get through quickly, take me quite a bit longer. But, it’s okay.

Do you do any self-education? If so, what things are you learning or reading?

Dinner Menu Week 2

Here’s this week’s dinner menu. I really should put it up earlier to give people a chance to decide if they want to use anything from it.

This week, I plan to take a day off from cooking. Saturday is our family night, and I’d prefer to grab something quick so we can continue our fun.

Dinner Menu

I always have a hard time coming up with dinner ideas. I have to cook for many different people, with many different tastes. We were eating out too much and I finally decided, NO MORE.

I’m trying a variety of new recipes and trying to avoid fast (or semi-fast) foods. Each week I make a menu for the next week. The meals are generally easy to make because I am short on time and I really don’t like cooking much.

I thought it might be helpful to share the menus here. Hopefully, they’ll give you some ideas. Feel free to use them as they are, or pick and choose as needed. If you enjoy a menu, please SHARE it. If you need a recipe for any of the meal ideas, just ask. I’d be more than happy to share upon request. 😀

You can also find the menus on my Facebook page.

Quick Update.

Just a really quick update. I’ve started adding in what we are reading in HOAW. The readings don’t necessarily line up perfectly with Spielvogel. It’s just our way to slowly get a more in depth understanding of what we are learning in ancient history. It may or may not be helpful to others. LOL

I also apologize for not getting the entire year up. I’m just adding days after we’ve done them. I don’t always get a chance to post them up. This lesson plan will likely be more helpful for upcoming years since I’ll likely have it all up by the time we’ve completed it. Also, if you have a supplement or link to share (even if it only pertains to a particular lesson), please contact me. We are always looking for other ways to reinforce the lessons.

In other news, we are likely going to take Thursday off from school. It’s supposed to be a really nice day, and we don’t get many of those after October. We’ll probably go out to eat and find some nice outdoor activity to do. I probably could count whatever it is towards school. Hmmmm.
